About Velas Turtle festival :

Velas turtle festival is a popular eco tourism festival celebrates in Velas and nearby beaches during the months of March to April where new born baby turtles are released back to sea safely. Visitors get opportunity to witness the whole procedure in which  baby turtles take first steps of their life towards sea and then start their challenging journey of life & struggle to survive. This initiative is taken by Local Villagers of Velas, NGOs and local government of Velas, which offers a great ecotourism experience for all visitors where they can enjoy Village life, authentic home stay experience and delicious local food of Velas.

Departure on Friday at 9:00 PM from Borivali station & then other pickups.
Route & Pickups : Borivali- Western express Highway – Sion – Chembur – Vashi – Navi Mumbai – Velas

Accommodation details :-
Velas Village follows sustainable tourism concept, so there are no luxury hotels available in Village.
However you may Experience authentic village-style typical Konkani homestay accommodations, with separate rooms for girls and boys. Additionally, private tents can be arranged if required on prior notice.

Harihareshwar Beach

Itinerary:

Day 0 (Friday):
Depart from Borivali Station towards Velas at 9 PM & other pickups.

Day 1 (Saturday):
6:30 AM: Reach Velas Village & Immediately head out for turtle Festival point in hope to Witness Baby turtles.
8:00 AM: Check in at Home Stay in Velas & Breakfast time. Remaining Time to Rest. Visit Bankot Fort. Return back to Home Stay for lunch.
5:00 PM: Freshen up & again visit the Turtle Festival point. Enjoy Beach along with Beautiful sunset.
7:30 PM : Return back to Home stay. Overnight stay at Velas.

Day 2 (Sunday):
6:00 AM: Visit Turtle Festival one last time hoping to see a few more turtles (if time permits) .
9:00 AM: Head Towards Harihareshwar Temple. Enroute enjoy a short Ferry ride.
10:30 AM: Visit Harihareshwar Temple & Beach
12:30 PM: Have lunch & Start Return Journey towards Mumbai with memories for lifetime

Tips & Suggestions :

• Avoid heavy Luggage, suggest you to carry backpack/rucksack over heavy suitcases.
• It’s a Backpacking Trip, not a Luxury Trip. 
• Basic but descent authentic homestays in Velas near turtle festival will be Provided 
• Be Prepared for 2 days sightseeing in humid climate , it usually remains hot during the day.
• We all are aware that starting a new life is a completely natural process, but we hope to be able to welcome the off springs at our time of visit to turtle festival of Velas. We cant give assurity of sighting Turtles.

Bankot Fort

Terms & Condition:

1) Kindly inform about your medical issue in advance, if any.

2) Participants will be responsible for their own belongings and health issues.

3) Avoid wearing gold or other costly jewelry.

4) Smoking and Drinking are strictly prohibited during Journey & sightseeing.

5) Please maintain the discipline and follow leader’s instructions for your own safety.

6) Trip leader’s decision will be final and binding.

7) In case, due to some unavoidable conditions (like natural disaster, change in government or local authorities policy etc.)  the event gets cancelled before/on the event date or during trek, Tour fees will be refunded except nominal expenses which are already spent till that point.
