What is Pandharpur Wari?
Pandharpur Wari is a sacred pilgrimage to Pandharpur dedicated to Lord Vithoba. During this spiritual journey, devotees carry the paduka (holy sandals) of saints in beautifully decorated palkhis. The most famous palkhis are those of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj. They travel from their sacred shrines to Pandharpur.
The Warkari Tradition
Thousands of devotees walk together with faith, devotion, and unity. The word “Warkari” means “one who performs the Wari.” This tradition has continued for more than 700 years and remains an important part of Maharashtra’s spiritual heritage.
A Celebration of Faith and Culture
Pandharpur Wari is more than a pilgrimage. It is a celebration of devotion, culture, music, games, and togetherness. The roads come alive with devotional chants and saffron flags. Every moment of the journey creates lasting memories.
